Hand Carved Solid Petoskey Stone Jumping Trout on an Alabaster Stand
The Trout is carved from a single Petoskey stone and
mounted upon an Alabaster base.
The Petoskey stone is fossilized pre-historic rugose coral. It consists
of tightly packed, six-sided corallites, which are the skeletons of the
once-living coral polyps. It is over 60 million years ago from the
Devonian period. They are beautiful when polished and have become one
of the most popular souvenirs of Michigan.
